Chinese cooking is so popular that it’s straightforward to tell what the most popular Chinese dishes are around the world. Chinese cuisine is one of the world’s most ancient culinary traditions, and so the popularity is well known.

The Chinese believe that food should be pleasing to eat and look at and be good for you. 

So for your delectation, I provide a list below with details of what they are and how you might prepare them.

01- Rice with Chicken

Ingredients: Rice, Chicken Broth, Green Onion, Ginger Root. 

Preparation:

    • Prepare rice according to the instructions for cooking.
    • Wash ginger root and cut it into small pieces
    • Chop green onion.
    • Pour water into a saucepan with the ginger and bring to a boil.
    • Add green onion and rice.
    • Cook until raisins are tender.

02- Cuttlefish with Noodles

Ingredients: Vermicelli, Cuttlefish, Dried Mushrooms, Carrots.

Preparation:

    • Soak dried mushrooms in water for 30 minutes or until soft.
    • Drain the liquid and cut it into thin strips.
    • Wash carrots and cut them into thin strips.
    • Remove the skin and bones of the cuttlefish and cut them into thin slices.

03- Mongolian Beef 

Ingredients: Beef, Flour, Green Onion, Peanut Oil.

Preparation:

    • Place Beef in a bowl and add flour to cover it with the grain (about 1-2 tablespoons).
    • Wash greens and cut them into small pieces.
    • Pour peanut oil in a frying pan over high heat until hot.
    • Add green onion and fry for 1 minute, then add Beef, constantly stirring so that the ingredients are well mixed.
    • Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until the colour of the meat changes (about 5 minutes).
    • Put on a dish and serve.

04- Lemon Chicken 

Ingredients: Chicken Breast, Flour, Eggs, Lemon Juice.

Preparation: 

    • Cut the chicken into strips and soak in lemon juice for at least 30 minutes (refrigerated). 
    • Beat eggs with one tablespoon of water. Pour flour into a separate container.
    •  When everything is ready, remove chicken from lemon juice and shake off excess liquid.
    •  Dip into flour, then egg, and fry until golden brown.

05- Beef with Onion 

Ingredients: Beef, Flour, Onion, Peanut Oil.

Preparation:

    • Cut the beef into thin slices and place it in a bowl.
    • Add one tablespoon of oil.
    • Pour flour over them to cover with a grain (about 2-3 tablespoons).
    • Cut onion into thin slices and fry until golden.
    • Add one tablespoon of oil to the pan and beef to cover with flour (about 2-3 tablespoons).
    • Stir for 5 minutes or until thoroughly cooked.

06- Chicken Fried Rice 

Ingredients: Rice, Onion, Carrot, Green Onion, Egg, Chicken Broth.

Preparation:

    • Rinse rice and add to the bowl.
    • Add water so that it covers 3/4 of the rice.
    • Cut carrot and green onion into thin strips and fry in 1 tablespoon of oil until they soften (about 5-6 minutes).
    • Shred chicken meat and add to a separate dish.
    • Beat an egg in another container, then pour it onto a frying pan over low heat.
    • Add chicken meat and carrot strips to fry, constantly stirring to mix the ingredients (about 5-7 minutes).

07- Crispy Duck

Ingredients: Duck, Vinegar, Salt.

Preparation:

    • Remove the skin from the duck if necessary.
    • Rinse with water and pat dry with paper towels.
    • Place duck on a rack in the oven to dry for 45 minutes at 80 degrees Celsius.
    • Mix salt with two tablespoons of sugar and rub it into the skin of the duck.
    • Pour vinegar into a deep dish, then submerge the duck skin in the vinegar (one side only).
    • Add enough water so that the duck is half-submerged.
    • Turn the oven down to 70 degrees Celsius and bake for 3 hours.

08- Chicken With Peanuts

Ingredients: Chicken Breast, Peanut Oil, Ginger Root, Soy Sauce, Cornflour.

 Preparation:

    • Shred chicken meat into thin strips (about 1 cm). 
    • Grate ginger root (1 teaspoon) and fry in peanut oil (about one tablespoon) until brown.
    • Add chicken so that it gets covered with ginger, and stir well before adding soy sauce.
    • Stir well for about 2-3 minutes or until thoroughly cooked.
    • If the dish is too salty, add some water to dilute it before serving sprinkled with peanuts.

Chinese cooking is a rich and diverse culture that varies across regions.
